Cannizaro interested in Tech opening
A source close to LSU hitting coach Andy Cannizaro tells BleedTechBlue.com Cannizaro is interested in the Louisiana Tech baseball opening.
Cannizaro was an All-American shortstop at Tulane and played in the big leagues for the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays. After his playing career, he served as a scout for the Yankees.
He represented the Yankees as their official representative at the 2013 and 2014 MLB Drafts.
At LSU, Cannizaro has been credited for much of the Tigers offensive explosion in recent years. In 2015, the Tigers led the nation in base hits, no. 3 in stolen bases, no. 3 in doubles, no. 4 in batting average and no. 7 in runs scored while leading the Southeastern Conference in batting average, base hits, stolen bases, doubles, total bases and fewest strike outs.
