Amite QB has Tech on top
Louisiana Tech held its final camp of the summer Sunday inside Joe Aillet Stadium and was cut short by inclement weather. Amite High School quarterback prospect Elijah Walker saw enough to make Tech his top option after receiving an offer earlier in the day.
Inside receivers and associate head coach Joe Sloan had seen Walker but wanted head coach Skip Holtz to get a look at Walker in action. After camp, Holtz and Walker sat down and talked.
"[Holtz] told me I impressed him and I'm the only quarterback he has offered in the 2017 class," Walker said of his meeting with Holtz. "Then he explained what it would be like if I was on the team."
Quarterbacks coach Tim Rattay told Walker he did a great job. When talking to Sloan, Sloan made sure he knew he was wanted.
"Before camp [Sloan] had already come to see me throw so he knew what I could do. I just had to show Coach Holtz. Coach Sloan said I'm the guy that he wants."
